Sugarpie and the Candymen celebrate their eleven years together with Sweet Classics, their sixth album, a collection of great classics from the American Songbook.
After collaborating with the famous showman Renzo Arbore on his latest album Arbore Plus, Sugarpie and the Candymen found themselves in the studio for a fresh and spontaneous recording session of 14 classic American songs.
The band tells:
“We love playing live and we often open the concerts with just a handful of classics and we realized that these were an integral part of our sound, yet we had never recorded them!”
From this rediscovered love for the evergreen and dragged by the amazing voice of Lara Ferrari, here is Sweet Classics, a personal tribute to the great composers of the American song, reinterpreted with the usual passion and irony that have characterized this original swing quintet for ten years which for the occasion boasts the participation of the great clarinetist Mauro Negri.
