The piano trio formula in jazz has historic and excellent precedents. Bill Evans with Scott LaFaro and Paul Motian, Oscar Peterson with Ray Brown and Ed Thigpen, Red Garland with Paul Chambers and Art Taylor, and almost all the great pianists like Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, and Brad Mehldau, with incredible rhythm sections of double bass and drums, have performed as a trio at least once in their careers. The union of the three most rhythmic instruments, with the influence of the piano’s great melody, creates an inimitable sound!
This new project by one of the most important rhythm sections of the moment, the Lo Greco brothers Enzo and Gianni, with pianist Antonio Zambrini, takes inspiration from the acronym of their three names and becomes Lo Greco Bros Trio A.G.E. The songs, all original, are a clear example of contemporary jazz that does not disdain new sounds open not only to tradition but also to the most immediate melody and the search for feeling as well as technique.
