FRANCESCO FARIAS

Francesco Farias is an Italian musician and producer active in the acid jazz and electronic funk scene, best known for his role in the Jestofunk project, one of the iconic groups featured on the historic Bologna-based label Irma Records. In the 1990s, he participated in the creation and development of Jestofunk alongside Claudio “Moz-Art” Rispoli and other producers on the Italian house and acid jazz scene. The project quickly established itself thanks to a sound that blends funk, soul, jazz, and house music, contributing to the international spread of the so-called “Italian acid jazz.”
Among the group’s best-known songs are “Can We Live,” “Say It Again,” and “I’m Gonna Love You,” released under the aegis of Irma Records, which would become landmarks on the international club scene. The first single from the Jestofunk project, “I’m Gonna Love You,” was born from this collaboration between Rispoli, Farias, and Alessandro Staderini (Blade), and features guest appearances from musicians such as Fred Wesley. Farias is thus a central part of the creative core that defined the group’s sound, linked to the spread of Italian acid jazz and the international circuit supported by Irma Records.
