The Flow Bop project continues a deep and evolving journey of sound research, where Downbeat Groove, Jazz, and Hip Hop meet, now enriched with Neo Soul and R&B influences. This new phase expands on the experiences already collected in Flow Bop Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, pursuing a coherent yet constantly evolving musical identity. At the heart of the project is the language of “Beat Black Hip Hop,” now closely linked to the aesthetics of Jazz Hop and Chill Hop, in which Enzo and Gianni Lo Greco (Lo Greco Bros), together with musicians with whom they have collaborated for years, develop new sonic directions while maintaining a balance between artistic research and the contemporary sensibility of the audience. The origins of Flow Bop date back to the early 1990s, when the Lo Greco Bros conceived a meeting between a jazz quartet and the rap group Radical Staff (featuring DJ Skizo). From that experiment, a true fusion of Jazz and Hip Hop was born, based on the shared desire to explore new languages of Black music.
Today, that vision remains the heart of the project: music that blends improvisation and groove, replacing traditional swing with a rhythmic approach combining funk, soul, R&B, and pulsating hip-hop. Gianni and Enzo Lo Greco are recognized as one of the most solid rhythm sections on the Italian and international jazz scene, with collaborations that include artists such as Chet Baker, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Jobim, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and many others. Among their best-known productions is Mario Biondi’s worldwide hit “This Is What You Are.”
