During the 80Õs he worked as a radio DJ, increasing his knowledge of 70Õs funk and soul. In the early 90Õs, with the house music explosion, Black Mighty Wax finds inspiration to start his first productions teaming up with Soundhands and Elise to form the act Be Noir. At the end of the past century Black Mighty Orchestra released their debut album by the title 'To The Sky'. These early influences, coupled with time spent in Jamaica as a child (where Max's mother's family was from) inevitably shaped Max's musical tastes. He started learning the piano from age of six, but early experiences of drumming along to his dad's records with two spoons and an array of small to large cushions on the floor left their mark and once he started percussion lessons he never looked back. He was lucky enough to be taught the basic techniques and rudiments by James Blades, a world renowned percussionist who had performed for over sixty years with the best orchestras in the world. After this grounding, Max's kit drumming has been largely self-taught. At school Max was involved with all forms of music from classical to contemporary and he went on to gain a degree in classical music from Edinburgh University. Since graduating, he has returned to his original influences which, along with the experiences of a healthy dance music scene in Edinburgh and London in the early 90's, now pervade his music. As a drummer he has recorded with the likes of Roni Size, King Kooba, Organic Audio and Noel McKoy amongst others. Max has released tunes on Second Skin in London, Om Records in San Francisco, and Cookin' Records (part of LTJ Bukem's Good Looking Organisation) before hooking up with Irma Records. The release of the seminal ÔHappyÕ EP on the Italian labelÕs imprint Irma On Canvas in 2003 changed his life and got him a licensing deal with UK label Sunday Best, which in 2004 re-released the song ÔHappyÕ, reputed one of the releases of the year by as diverse djÕs as Gilles Peterson and Laurent Garnier, with everyone else in between. Sunday Best hired Fatboy Slim, Spiritual South, Blackbeard, Soul Mekanik to remix ÔHappyÕ and reinforced cult status of the track. Kekko was a producer of house and breakbeat, while Kikko played sax with several different bands. Their career as Montefiori Cocktail started in 1997. Their music is inspired by what used to be called Easy Listening and that is now known as Lounge Music. Montefiori Cocktail are ItalyÕs major representatives of the easy listening evolution, offering the 60Õs sound enriched with technological elements. They grasp the vitality spirit conveyed by that period by re-proposing it in musical forms that belong to our time, through the contamination with house, breakbeat, drum'nÕbass, etc. Keeping this in mind they revive 60Õs cult soundtracks and TV commercials music. ItÕs music to have fun with, for relaxing but also for dancing. Born in Munich, Nobit started to take his first drum classes at the age of eleven. After leaving school, he studied classical percussion and piano at the Richard Strauss Conservatory. The curiosity to get to know other music and sounds from all over the World was so big that in the early 90's he went to Asia. In India he learned how to play tablas, In Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore he got in touch with local musicians, jamming in all kinds of music clubs. Next destination U.S.A.: in San Francisco he quickly got into the music scene playing with pop, jazz and latin bands. Back to Germany, Nobit moved to Cologne and founded the funky-brazilian band Agua Na Boca, getting closer to hip-hop and electronic music. At the same time he was composing soundtracks for movies and German television. Throughout this time Nobit had always Brazil in his mind. In 1999 Nobit moved to Rio de Janeiro. There he produced many Brazilian artists and bands, varying from traditional samba, forr˜, bossa nova to Brazilian electro and hip hop. In his sparetime, he started working on his solo project Riovolt. Taking the chance to work with Brazilian singers and musicians, he produced the first tracks for the album ÔDigital Audio Bossa' which was completed back in Munich and released on Irma Records in 2003. Riovolt's music is a mix of Brazilian flavours like samba, forr˜ and bossa nova with electronica, drumÕnÕbass, break beats and nu jazz. The album also includes an uplifting cover version of the classic ÔO Ronco da Cu’caÕ, a Jo‹o Bosco composition sung here by guest vocalist Lilian Vieira from Zuco 103. Yet always her own woman, Sarah Jane Morris is a truly independent spirit with a stunningly expressive voice who's been making exciting music for twenty-five years. Sarah Jane trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama before embarking on a career as a singer and actress. Success with the British band Communards in 1986 (most notably a performance on the UK's best-selling single of the year, ÔDon't Leave Me This WayÕ) led to solo albums (the first of which included the BBC-banned iconic rendition of ÔMe and Mrs JonesÕ), sell-out tours and appearances on TV, theatre and film. There are singers who are living embodiments of the notion that what you see and hear is what you get. And there are singers who imply much more levels of emotion, of sonic virtuosity, of stories yet untold, that would gradually surface if you listened long enough, or closely enough. The tension between what is given and what is held in reserve is the secret and Sarah-Jane Morris is that kind of singer. Like a statue viewed in different lights and from different angles, her identity seems constant yet constantly changing each time she performs. &ART14disc=Album releases: SARAH JANE MORRIS Blue valentine (Casa Di Primordine) 1996 SARAH JANE MORRIS Fallen angel (Casa Di Primordine) 1998 SARAH JANE MORRIS I am a woman (Casa Di Primordine) 2000 SARAH JANE MORRIS August (Casa Di Primordine) 2002 SARAH JANE MORRIS Love and pain (Casa Di Primordine) 2003 Single releases: SARAH JANE MORRIS Ever Gonna Make It rmxs 12'' (Casa Di Primordine) ICP 082 SARAH JANE MORRIS Ever gonna make it / Dream on Baby rmxs 12'' (Casa Di Primordine) ICP 105 SARAH JANE MORRIS Nothing comes from nothing - Don Carlos rmx 12'' (Casa Di Primordine) ICP 116 SARAH JANE MORRIS Dream on Baby - Ron Trent rmx 12'' (Unlimited) IU 001 SARAH JANE MORRIS It's Jesus I love - Max Sedgley rmx / Nothing comes from nothing - Atjazz rmx 12'' (Irma On Canvas) IC 217&ART14pict=sarahjanemorris.jpg&ART14icon=sarahjanemorrisICN.jpg&ART14audio=&ART14buy=&ART15name=UNITED PEACE VOICES&ART15bio=The United Peace Voices project was born several years ago from a meeting between Tibetan Lama Gangchen Rimpoche and legendary Beat poet Allen Ginsberg, recently passed away. It was Ginsberg, following a long conversation with the Lama about his doctrine based upon declamation of musical mantras, as part of the Buddhist practice known as self-healing, who advised him to form a group of singers for travelling around the World to divulge his teachings.Lama GangchenÕs centre of culture and teaching is based in Milan and from there he constantly travels around the World for his peace missions and benefits in order to help the poorest populations of the globe. During his journeys Lama Gangchen is often followed by the United Peace Voices group, whoÕve been performing at events of various kinds, including one inside the United Nations building in New York. On their first album for Irma Records, titled ÔZamling ShideÕ (Tibetan for ÔPeace In The WorldÕ), female voices in English or Tibetan alternate with the Tibetan LamaÕs delivery of mantras or prayers for devotion and peace. The production is care of some of the best names from the Irma team. The result is a peculiar mixture of Asian melodies and electronic arrangements, ranging from the Asian Lounge sound to Breakbeat, from Electrobossa to Technodub. The album is Irma RecordsÕ little contribution to help solving the critical international situation we are currently living in. The whole project is tied to the association Help In Action, which takes care of long-distance adoptions and fund raising for the Tibetan and Nepalese people.&ART15disc=UNITED PEACE VOICES 'Zamling Shide' CD / 2LP (Casa Di Primordine) 2003 UNITED PEACE VOICES 'Chang Tzel / Lasa Girls / Michel Rimpoche (Dub Arkanoid Trim rmx)' 12'' (Irma On Canvas) 2004 UNITED PEACE VOICES 'Zamling Shide' remixes 12'' (Sukii) 2004&ART15pict=UnitedPeaceVoices.jpg&ART15icon=UnitedPeaceVoicesICN.jpg&ART15audio=&ART15buy=&ART16name=ZEB&ART16bio=Italian born Moreno Visini aka Zeb started to play guitar at age of nine and moved to London at age of fifteen, playing guitar in different bands ranging from Rock to Reggae and Funk. In the late 80Õs he started to develop an interest in electronic music and equipment. In 1989 he finally got signed to Polygram in the States with the band The Indians. In Õ91 he moved to the US to record an album, ÔIndianismÕ, in L.A. with acclaimed producer Dave Jerden (he produced JaneÕs Addiction and Alice in Chains) and finally settled in New York. In 1994 The Indians split up and Zeb started to really focus on sampling and programming, basically to put the basis for his solo career in dance music. In 1996 he released a couple of tracks as part of a compilation on Shadow Records (on a downtempo/trip hop tip) and started an alliance of DJs and musicians devoted to perform together a blend of trippy, dubby funk and world music. The project was called Organic Grooves, a now legendary weekly party in New York. In 1997 Zeb released his first EP on Codek Records titled ÔMagic CarpetÕ and a couple of other tracks were included on CodekÕs compilations. In 1998 Zeb started his collaboration with Irma Records producing tracks for many compilations and working on remixes for Voo Doo Phunk and Jaymz Nylon. ZebÕs tunes in those days were included in the early legendary Buddha Bar compilations. His first album ÔJesterizedÕ (2001) caught the attention of press and Irma followers all over the World. A mix of dub, reggae, Indian and African sounds, breakbeat and Italian soundtracks are the base of Zeb's music. On his second album ÔThe End Of The BeginningÕ (2003) he continues in the same direction with an improved, spotless production and crystal clear sounds.&ART16disc=ZEB 'Jesterized' CD / 2LP (Irma Casa Di Primordine) 2000 ZEB 'The End Of The Beginnings' CD / 3x10" (Moonbeat Recordings) 2003 ZEB 'Swimming Pool / Artichoke Funk' remixes 12'' (Irma On Canvas) 2002 ZEB 'Why are we where?
